Console Wars are for Epic Losers

28 10 2009

Have you ever watched a game video on the web before? Have you ever actually looked at the comments left underneath? Have you ever been unfairly criticised by a ‘fanboy’ who has nothing better to do with his life than to pick on innocent gamers who enjoy playing their own console? These ‘fanboys’ are the bane of every gamers’ life. They deem it necessary to insult every single person who doesn’t own their favourite console, quite often in unnecessarily vulgar ways. A ‘fanboy’ is someone who has an intense, occasionally overwhelming liking and enthusiasm for a sporting club, person (usually a celebrity), group of persons, company, product, activity, work of art, idea, or trend and in this case games.

I get so annoyed when someone constantly compares their “superior” console to my own. The most recent being the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. Sure, the Playstation 3 has better technology inside but I bought the Xbox because of the exclusive titles that I wouldn’t want to go without. Yes there are good games on the PS3 and yes some of them are exclusive. But my favourite series of all time are things like Halo and Gears of War. You could say that they are only two games and it’s not worth it but do any of you actually know how many games those two series include? Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Gears of War, Gears of War 2 and soon to be Gears of War 3! That’s verging on $900 worth of gaming experiences.

I love the layout of the Xbox 360 and the many ways of socialising through it. The webcam video feed, email, MSN, Live chats, in game chats and many more. I don’t want to change my console, no matter how much they swear at me saying the PS3 is better. They just need to shut up and get on with life, without criticizing others for their choices.

The Wii is another story. That sucks. A lot.
