NRL GRAND FINAL

30 09 2009

Rugby leagues’ 2009 Telstra Premiership is coming up this weekend on Sunday October 4th at 5:15 pm, at ANZ stadium. The game is between Parramatta eels and Melbourne Storm who both took home victories this past weekend in the semis: Parramatta beating Bulldogs, 22-12 and Melbourne beating Broncos 40-10.

The finals were off to an aggressive start with several players being knocked and bumped and injured all across the field, judiciary rulings are currently in contemplation. Melbourne’s game, while not as brutal, was equally as aggressive with their determination seething out of the players and onto the field. Melbourne dominated for the majority of the game with stand out performances from Billy Slater and Greg Inglis in particular. Melbourne is making club history with this win meaning their fourth consecutive entry into the NRL grand finals in the past four years!

Parramatta have also made a history of their own being the only team EVER, to make it into the grand final after being in 8th position on the ladder earlier in the comp. This breakthrough is sure to drive the Eels to a long awaited, hard earned triumph over the Storm. However Melbourne has bodaciously exhibited that they are in their top form with attack, defence and strategic play being smooth, precise and perfected. They are certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Despite winning or losing, the Eels seem to be trying to enjoy the ride while they can, with their fans and as a team. They have opened up a training session to the general public to amp up the crowd for the Grand Final, encourage their spirit and support and show how hard they are working to take home the title. It will no doubt be a non stop vigorous game and I encourage everyone to keep your eyes glued to your TV’s for the upcoming event!
