Rachael Finch, a 21 year old Townsville, Queensland based model, took the crown of Miss Australia earlier this year and was deemed to take the crown of Miss Universe and follow the footsteps of Jennifer Hawkins, the former Miss Universe of 2004 who won the crown for Australia and won the public’s hearts.

August 23 in the Bahamas was the big day for the young Townsville competitor. The day that she had worked towards was finally here and the pressure was on as she was rumoured to win and take the crown and follow the footsteps of the gorgeous Jen Hawkins.

The pressure was on for Finch as she was up compared to 83 other women of the world and as Donald Trump, co owner of the Miss Universe Competition said “I think this is the most beautiful group of women I’ve ever seen,” I think everyone agrees, the stakes have raised this year.

Finch has told reporters that she never thought she was a real competitor in the competition and said she didn’t even think she would make it this far. She had a 5/1 chance of winning out of all her competitors and was one of the favorites in this competition.

Unfortunately Rachael Finch finished 3rd runner up of the Miss Universe Pageant, behind Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela (winner), Ada de la Cruz from the Dominican Republic (runner up) and Kosovo’s Marigona Dragusha. Although Finch didn’t win she has still one of the top 5 most beautiful women in the world and is rumored to have several jobs for her return to Australia.  Jennifer Hawkins finished first and although Finch just missed out, she is likely to be the pin up girl in Australia and catching the eyes of many companies for her know well renowned beauty, in the exact way Hawkins did after her win in 2004.
